Here it is…

Happy New Year everyone!!!! 2006!!!! Yay!
Out of the loop
December 27, 2005
So I was at The Gap today looking at the sale rack when two young boys about 13 or so walked up. One of them grew very excited about a pair of $10.00 jeans. “Wow dude. These are only $10.00!” Then the other said “So you gonna try em’ on or what?” “Yeah, they’re only $10.00.” Thinking the boys must be have been confused about what section they were in I said “You know these are the women’s clothes right?” Thinking I would prevent them embarrasment of course. The kid with women’s jeans in his hands said “Yeah, I know. I wear women’s jeans!” The way he said it (in a duh-like manner) made me feel so much older than I actually am. Like way older. I can’t explain it. I felt like I had become one of those moms who has no idea of what “cool” is. It was such a revealing moment for me. I have become one of those “old” people who go around saying “what in the world are these kids into these days?” I never thought this day would come. I actually stared at his ass as he walked away and sure enough…they were women’s jeans. Very tight women’s jeans might I add.

Been Tagged
December 21, 2005
I’ve been tagged by Ann over at Detroit Diva. Here are my five random facts:
1- I used to be in love with Christopher Reeve (Superman) as a child. I used to watch the superman movies on VHS again and again daydreaming about the day he would save me. Additionally, I was in love with him as a cartoon character.
2- I like Phil Collins (True Colors cover included).
3- I knocked one of my front teeth out with a baseball in 5th grade. I now have a fake one.
4- I miss living in Alabama whenever I see my sisters, dad, niece and nephews.
5- I love swatch watches (originals).
Because I have no close friends with blogs I tag Heidi. Heidi in Ann Arbor, it is your turn! What are your Five random facts?
Publish your own book
December 21, 2005
Who would have thought of giving a printed version of someone’s blog as a gift? Well, this girl Carrieoke Knitter. She used lulu.com for the publishing. You can also publish CDs, DVDs, images, and Calendars. Too bad I just found out about it 5 days before Christmas. I would like to make a coffeetable book of images for someone sometime.
Two Words

I borrowed season’s I and II from the library the other day, as well as “The Office Special” . I’m talking BBC version here obviously since we are now in season II here in the US. The show (both versions) is absolutely hilarious! I highly recommend you check it out. We saw most of season II and some of season I (from Netflix a year ago) but we wanted to watch them all again including the special which is suppose to be a follow-up on the characters after their documentary is over. The boss in the BBC version is much more painful and uncomfortable to watch than the boss in the US version,my opinion (in a good way I should say). I’m literally cringing when he interacts with people. Which is what makes it sooooo good. Just check it out. You won’t regret it.
Off the topic- Just found out about one of the perks of working at a library. My card has been upgraded to that of an employee which means I will never be charged for late fees. How great is that? Honestly? Newer DVD’s are usually only allowed in patrons hands for three days. Well with my new GOLD CARD status I may take as long as I want and need. Just imagine how long I could check out 1 book. Yeah. Exactly. Crazy huh?
Yawn…..
December 19, 2005
Why do I always forget I can NOT drink coffee after 3:00 PM? Last night I drank coffee with my friend Chen after we had dinner at the Noodle house in Ann Arbor. Sure enough by the time I went to bed, at midnight, I could not fall asleep. “Darn it!” I thought. It was a dreadful long night of tossing and turning for me. Even worse was the fact that I experienced a sleepless night on Saturday night as well (and didn’t even drink coffee that night). So I was already lacking in sleep. All I can do in these situations is listen to Jeff as he snores away in a deep relaxing state. Of which doesn’t last very long because I usually and rather annoyingly nudge him telling him “to stop snoring” which usually triggers a loud snort like effect which immediately shuts the snoring down altogether. Ohh, but only briefly my friends. Then it’s off to some other variation of a snore full throttle (sometimes a whistling nostril is involved). I’m convinced Jeff has many levels and types of snores. Some of which trigger an almost tick like response in me. I’m practically convulsing next to him during those moments. Jeff’s snoring isn’t the reason for my sleepless nights. In fact, I may be exaggerating just how bad his snoring really is. It’s just that his snoring is amplified tenfold on my sleepless nights. Every sound in the house is amplified. It’s like the scene of a movie where a camera is zoomed in on water slowly dripping from a faucet and echoing into a large bowl of water. It’s the worse thing ever! Some people may have that “reckless leg syndrome” thing…whatever the hell that is. Well, I think I have “restless body and mind syndrome”. Ohh don’t worry…it’s not contagious as far as I know (obviously Jeff has no problems falling asleep and letting it be known to all those in the same room with him). Apparently the syndrome just hits one sporadically and without much warning. One night you’re sleeping like a baby. Then the next night… it’s like BAM! Then you’re up like a night owl but without the hooting. I personally like to whine and moan out loud in hopes that I will be knocked out of my misery by the sandman (or Jeff for that matter). I’m beginning to think he (the sandman) likes to watch me suffer. I picture him laughing and pointing at me in the morning as I roll out of bed (as I did this morning after a whole two hours of sleep) to go to work, bags so black under my eyes that I resort to white house paint just to conceal them. Ohh, nevermind I can barely walk straight. It’s nothing a little bit of coffee can’t take care of.
Okay, so it’s a whole pot of coffee. What’s your point?
Chen graduated
December 18, 2005
Yay! My friend Chen graduated today. I went to watch her walk in the commencement cermony at Eastern Michigan University. Not to mention relive the whole long process impatiently in claustiphobic seating (last experienced in the stands in spring of 2000). The commencement was actually a lot shorter than mine was a year ago. John Dingell Jr. was suppose to give the commencement speech today but there was a last minute senate meeting in Washington that he just had to attend. Instead, professor Gary Evans gave the commencement speech. Did I tell you how great a job he did? Yeah, and I’m not usually one to pay too close attention to long (usually boring) speeches during commencements. If you asked me who gave it last year during my graduation ceremony I couldn’t tell you. That’s how little of an impact it had on me. Although if you ask me who gave Eastern’s class of 2000 I could tell you Bill Clinton. Yes, THAT Bill Clinton. Truthfully, I don’t recall what he said in his speech I only know it was good. I also knew he was president and that had me impressed that he showed up at all. If I had graduated in 4 years as most college students typically do ( that number has changed though), he would have been my commencement speaker that year. Instead it took me 7 years to graduate *. Or was it 8? See what I mean? I can’t even recall how long I was an undergrad because it took me so long. All I know is I do not remember who my commencement speaker was in December of 2004. Perhaps I was too busy scanning the stands for my family, feeling sorry for them as they sat uncomfortably in the claustiphobic seating. Or perhaps I was just too busy fretting about my uncertain future and the student loan debt I had just accrued ($$$$ cha-ching).
* I worked a full-time job at Rouge Steel (now Severstal) in Dearborn for years. Which should explain a little bit of WHY it took me so long.
So that’s that. Congrats to Chen! Yay! Good luck on your Masters.
Quick Note
December 16, 2005
Sorry the posts have been brief. Just taking care of business on the homefront. Just started my new part-time job (lovin’ it!) while trying to get school business straightened out. Hard to believe I’ll be doing homework and presentations again soon. I graduated a year ago this month with a huge sigh of relief. Now I will be doing it all over again (and sighing for a different reason). It shouldn’t be too shabby though.
Jeff and I are in midst of doing our holiday cards. I’ll post it online as soon as we know most people have received theirs. Don’t want to ruin the surprise.
Again, sorry so brief. Gotta run.
Jazz+Pavement=Pretty damn good
December 9, 2005
I soooooo want this album . Jeff and I were just working around the house (and listening to WDET 101.9 ) when we screamed out “Hey,it’s Summer Babe!!” Except it wasn’t Pavement ……it was James Carter, Cyrus Chestnut, Ali Jackson, and Reginald Veal who did a concept jazz album of Pavement songs. Crazy ehh?
